Teelixir Nettle root Health Benefits

Benefits of Nettle Root:

  • Energy
  • Hormones
  • Libido
  • Skin
  • Hair
  • Antioxidants
  • Immunity
  • Bones

Many already know of the remarkable benefits of the Stinging Nettle plant (Urtica dioica). Every part of the plant is beneficial for human health. It is a highly nutritious and common superfood that has been used for many centuries to alleviate a variety of conditions. It is loaded with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and has shown great potential to relieve allergies, nourish the hair and skin, support the joints, bones, and kidneys. Nettle also touts many hormonal benefits too, for this, the root of the plant must be used.

Nettle root is a powerful hormone balancing herb for both men and women. It is an essential herb for men and women entering middle age or for individuals lacking vitality, low in energy, and libido. It is beneficial for men with waning levels of free testosterone and for women with increased levels of harmful estrogen metabolites. Every day our world is constantly being flooded with harmful pollutants, chemicals, plastics, and environmental toxins that negatively affect and disrupt our bodies endocrine system. Nettle root is a powerful ally for optimising and regulating the hormonal system, especially related to reproductive health, and is suitable for anyone with symptoms of estrogen toxicity. Nettle root doesn’t necessarily make our hormones stronger, but rather, as our hormones best friend and supporter, it can help multiply their effectiveness by preventing the processes in the body that can render our hormones useless, like aromatization.

Nettle root is a natural aromatase inhibitor.

The sex hormones undergo a process of aromatization where the enzyme aromatase converts testosterone and estrogen into harmful estrogen metabolites. Both men and women require estrogen in different amounts, but too much can be a bad thing and can lead to estrogen dominance, especially if it’s the bad kinds of estrogen, like estradiol. These “bad” estrogen metabolites are responsible for some of the prostate issues we see in men and some of the cervical and breast issues we see in women. Nettle root blocks the aromatization process by binding to the glycoprotein, Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG). The problem with SHBG is that it binds free (active) estrogen, testosterone and its metabolites DHT (Dihydrotestosterone), which renders it unusable by the body. Free testosterone and free estrogen is the type that is active in the body. We want to keep as much of it free as possible. Certain sterol compounds found in Nettle root, like beta-sitosterol, bind to SHBG and help boost and free up locked estrogen and testosterone. This increases the availability of free testosterone and free estrogen and improves vitality and sexual function.

Women with high levels of SHBG have less available testosterone. It’s worth noting that testosterone plays an important role in healthy women too. Testosterone helps to maintain energy levels, muscle development, bone health, and sex drive. Nettle root has also shown promising results in supporting the symptoms of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) in women.

Nettle root limits DHT.

Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a super-charged form of testosterone. Too much DHT can lead to prostate problems and hair loss in men. Nettle root blocks the conversion of free testosterone to DHT and helps regulate DHT levels in the body by inhibiting the main enzyme, 5-alpha-reductase that causes this conversion. This makes Nettle root a great hair tonic. It is known for helping to prevent and reverse the effects of male pattern baldness by preventing the build-up of excess DHT in the scalp. It does this by blocking DHT from binding to the receptor sites of the hair follicles.

How long will my Teelixir products last?

If kept sealed, all products will last at least two years from the date of purchase. In some cases, the herbal material can “candy” (harden) over a period of time, depending on the environmental conditions. This does not mean the product has gone bad, it is still just as effective and beneficial. Make sure the bag is sealed at all times when not in use to prevent moisture and oxygen from entering.

Are Teelixir products non-irradiated?

Yes, absolutely! No amount of irradiation is ever done on any Teelixir products. We've gone to extreme lengths to ensure that all of the tonic herbs, mushrooms, adaptogens, and superfoods we import under the Teelixir brand name have not been processed in any harmful ways that could damage the nutrition or chemical profile of the herbal material. We wouldn’t accept them any other way!

Contrary to what you may have heard, irradiation does not improve the bio-availability and effectiveness of these tonic superfoods. Irradiation is mostly used to prolong the shelf life of a food product and most often, creates a nutrient depleted and inferior food item at the expense of the consumer. That’s not how we do things at Teelixir. We share your zero tolerance for food irradiation.

When will my item(s) ship?
